It is important to emphasize that every merchant is at risk. Fraud can happen to any merchant at any time and a single fraud incident can be enough to put a merchant out of business
Fraudster techniques becoming more advanced
Techniques used in online card-not-present fraud are becoming more and more sophisticated. Traditional fraud screening tools can only determine if a credit card is legitimate or if the user-entered account information matches those on record. Today, fraudsters can obtain personal credit card information, pose as the legitimate card holder, and bypass standard fraud checks.
What is the Fraud Protection program?

The Fraud Protection program is the proprietary credit card fraud detection service that combines our GeoIP® technology with other order variable checks, such as open proxy detection. The Fraud Protection program can provide all the information obtained during manual verification and additional information in less than one second. Merchants can use the Fraud Protection program to speed up manual order verification, automate order process by using our risk scores, or develop their own customized scoring system with the information that we provide.
What is the Fraud Protection Network?
Since the Fraud Protection program is a hosted solution, it connects and consists of all the e-commerce businesses who are currently using the Fraud Protection program. Currently, more than 6,000 e-commerce businesses are protected by the Fraud Protection program through our client and partner networks. By combining feedback and resources from the Fraud Protection network and delivering new features designed to combat emerging fraud trends, we are able to help merchants reduce chargebacks effectively.
Why join the Fraud Protection Network?
Businesses may prefer to have an in-house screening system, but we believe a hosted service has advantages over an in-house system. While in-house fraud screening systems may be effective, over time, fraudsters will figure out a way to circumvent the security measures. Being part of the minFraud Network allows for a more dynamic and adaptive approach to fraud detection through the idea of mutual protection. For example, if we detect suspicious activity from an IP address, it will be flagged as high risk throughout the network in real-time. Feedback from merchants will serve as a warning signal to all others within the network. For that reason, the Fraud Protection program can complement existing in-house fraud checking systems very well.

At Bankcard Services, we approach fraud screening in a different way. We examine an online transaction from various angles. Our tools are not geared towards verifying the authenticity of the credit card details used for the purchase, but rather, identifying if the purchaser is the legitimate card holder. Through our analysis, we have been able to identify traits and patterns that are associated with fraudulent orders. By asking the right questions, we can provide e-commerce businesses with the necessary information to detect fraudulent orders before the payment is processed.
